Anyone know where that line is from? In case you don't, it is from the classic Cosby Show episode when Denise made Theo a Gordon Gartrelle shirt and it came out all wonky and crooked. It's a hilarious episode - try to catch it on repeats if you can.
Well, Gordon Gartrelle lives on, at least in sweater form. Remember that Baby Yoda Sweater I was so averse to seaming? I finally got on the stick and started working on it...and it looks a little wonky and crooked. One arm is definitely wider than the other, and it looks wider right where I attached it to the body of the sweater. Great. The arms also look skinnier than I would like, and I followed the instructions to the letter. The collar I knitted looks more like a collar on a polo shirt than a collar that is supposed to be wider and lay more flat, and there's a slight lumpiness at one part of the side seam, too. Wonderful.
I'm almost done with the sweater, thank goodness. I just have to finish sewing the I-cords to the body and then block it, which I hope will correct some of my misdeeds. I am never making this again; there are far too many seams for such a small piece.
I'm sorry, baby Mark, for making you a Gordon Gartrelle sweater. I'm just relieved that its length is fine, so your parents won't be pulling a Theo and having to tuck it into your booties.

Well, thanks for the review. I was thinking of making a Yoda sweater for a friend's baby due in September, but now I'll probably do something else. And I'm sorry it didn't work out for you. Maybe a 5-hour baby sweater would be a good project? I have a pattern that has no seams and very little froo-froo.

HAH. Well, Suss made her NAME off the Cosby sweaters (although maybe not that particular one), so maybe it will make you famous!
I love the 5-hr sweater. It is really cool to watch it come together. Also, the EZ Surprise sweater and it's copies.

My Baby Yoda collar was more polo-oriented too, and the sleeves are narrow.Check out the photo here-- http://onthebuswithlaurie.blogspot.com/2006/12/merry-christmas-to-all-except-spiders.html
I'm a fan of the top-down hooded baby cardigan from that site you linked for your nieces' sweaters. It has an option for collar instead of hood. I'd recommend that for any future baby knitting. Raglan sleeves, top down construction, super easy instructions--what's not to love?

I loved that episode, but I always imagined that it was a "Gordon Guard Trail" shirt that they were talking about. I guess that must have been before closed captions.
