Thanks for being the other person on earth who did not enjoy Napoleon Dynamite. I have tried unsuccessfully to watch it twice. TiVo keeps forcing down my throat, no matter how many thumbs down I give it.

Catherine

I can name five people (you and myself included) that can't stand that movie. I say we are in very good company.

I would love to read your treatise on the suckiness of "Napoleon Dynamite." I'm not quite sure where I stand with that flick. I just don't understand why it became "THE MOVIE" for this generation of teens. It is certainly no "Breakfast Club" or "Goonies" or "Slacker" or "Dazed & Confused" or "Rebel Without A Cause" or "Saturday Night Fever" or "Cooley High."

I think I'm opposed to seeing Nacho Libre at this point for Jack Black playing "brownface" for comedy. It is one thing for Efren Ramirez to play cultural accents and affectations for comedy in Dynamite. Quite another for Black.

Courtney

I too, am against Napoleon Dynamite.

Catherine

Oh, my treatise is definitely in the works. Heh.

Courtney, it cheers me to no end to learn that you are also against ND. I knew I liked you. ;)

Kelly

I just got back from seeing Nacho Libre. I also didn't like Napoleon Dynamite , but this was WAY better. It had a lot of really funny parts to it, don't believe everything the rotten tomato says.

Jessica

My issue with Napoleon Dynamite was that I could not grasp what year it was set in and it drove me crazy. Everyone's dressing like it's 1983, yet they have the interwebs. Then, why the anachronistic dress? Why? Why? There was no reason for it.

Heather

I haven't seen Napoleon Dynamite but I could not loathe Jon Heder more -- have you noticed he seems unable to focus his eyes? I know "Just Like Heaven" was awful but he was ESPECIALLY moronic in it.

And, Nacho Libre was such a waste of time and money. Not a single funny line in the movie -- only occasional amusing deliveries of unfunny lines. What an a**pile.

Catherine

Ha! I wasn't the only one who noticed Heder's lazy eye. Man, I can't stand him. Ugh.

In other news, "a**pile" is my new favorite word. :D

Carrie

I hated Napoleon Dynamite. HATED IT. I only disliked Nacho Libre. Jack Black pulled a few funny moments out of his ass that made it tolerable and very, very occasionally amusing. This observation, by Heather:

"And, Nacho Libre was such a waste of time and money. Not a single funny line in the movie -- only occasional amusing deliveries of unfunny lines."

Is spot-on. Without Jack Black to squeeze a tiny bit of comedy out of the script, it would have been a complete waste.
